REvenge of the ape
Tape 3 - ESC is back and better than before. We can witness just how far ESC will go to create a world in which we can all escape. From just making music, to a full album release. Visuals for every song right out of the gate. ESC extended what was possible in the hands of the artist. With a Star Wars inspired name, the third project by ESC is ‘Revenge of the Ape’.
In early 2023 the studio took a move from the left wall to the front wall, becoming the beacon of creative source for the next album. ESC took a dive into the hard drive to find any gems that needed to be published. Finished and packaged into album No. 3. Exercising old and new skills and experiences to provide an intriguing listen to all aspects of the music, every single time.
The album process, all in-house, began with the beats to the songs, each taking its own session and time for ESC to produce and execute. Exception of ‘Wanna Know’, the lyrics came before the beat. The lyrics followed for the rest of the songs. With the SM7B, a rough track was laid out to begin. An extensive and vigorous clean-up occurred on each track, ensuring the vocals and beat worked together. The mix process all done by ESC, brought out the flavor in the recordings, bringing them to life. A cherry on top with the mastering and the tape was done. A long tedious journey, but ESC makes it look easy.
The art of an album is utterly important. There is the challenge of perfectly translating the new sound crafted by ESC into a visual story that captivates. An altered photograph of the artist’s travels overlays an edited self-portrait of ESC. Three in Roman numerals and the title printed on top. Look at the artist while you listen, look closer and see the beachside streets of Mexico. ESC wanted to bring the transportation of the music into the visuals.
Every song accompanied by its own visual. Recorded and edited by ESC. Each visual allows for a full optical interpretation of every song. It allows listeners to fully understand. Another means of seeing the creative vision inside the mind of ESC.
‘Revenge of the Ape’ was released on October 18, 2023. A project demonstrating growth in art and pushing the boundaries of sound. ESC demonstrated the new lengths possible. With every project reaching a different level, this is just another stepping stone in the grandness of the artist, Ape Man.
