left in between
An interesting story behind the second tape by ESC. A story of multiple songs coming together right before the eyes of early fans. An album with different studio environments and different microphones. ESC demonstrated versatility and growth as an artist. The light of the art brightened, and it shines brighter as the development of tape two continued.
Immediately after the release of P.D.T., the first single was released. ‘Fuck it, I’ll do It’ still used all the same equipment in The Brown Room. ‘Alright, High’ was also produced in the same state of the studio. Shortly after, a Shure SM7B Microphone upgrade occurred. ‘We Taking Over’ was next in the original release order, this time with a fresh vocal tone. Next, the production of ‘Happening’ took place in The Brown Room. However, the finalization happened in the next level of the studio.
Early 2022, a studio change needed to happen to accommodate the growth of ESC. A move to the bedroom may not seem big, but it allowed for the full extent of the music. An addition of a Kaotica Eyeball ensured perfect takes. Along with the studio and equipment changes, ESC changed the release styles to EPs. ‘Escape 2 Fridays Volume 1’ the first music pack consisted of the songs ‘Ape Man’ ‘Knees of the Bees’ ‘We Keep It Moving’ and ‘No Escape’. Next came ‘Escape 2 Fridays Volume 2’ which had the songs ‘Dance Again’ and ‘Panini Freestyle’.
The EPs were short-lived as ESC reverted to the singles strategy. Do not be mistaken, the quality of each track only went up. ‘Chrome Hill’ the first of the new singles came and shocked. ‘Rear View’ the next single demonstrated the vulnerability ESC can bring to a track. ‘Better Than Before’ came out showing a new level of honesty and polish. The last single and song to the album ended this string of releases. ‘Run For The Sun’ puts the cherry on top of the tape.
‘Left In Between’ was released on October 21, 2022, as individual projects. It was not until the fall of 2023 that the releases first appeared together as an album. The remaster of P.D.T. inspired an update on each of the tracks. ESC compiled the songs to tell a story and flow exceptionally well. The restructuring of the phonics also highlights every great aspect of every song. Another project is growing as the artist does.
